What others are
saying about . . .
I was recently given a copy of the new revised edition of Coping
With Caring. As I turned to the back cover, I was immediately drawn
to Lyn Roche's picture. The first thing that came to my mind was,
"What a difference a smile can make." I've met Lyn and she has
a smile that allows her inner strength, wisdom and kindness to radiate forth -
like a beacon saying, "I understand what you're going through, and I care
about YOU." As I got into the contents of the book, I realized the
practical wisdom given in short daily readings, puts a confident peaceful smile
on a caregiver's face, too. In a caregiver's day, a smile can indeed make
all the difference in the world!

Once again Lyn Roche has contributed a wonderful resource
tailor-made for those caring for loved ones with AD or any such related
situation. This little book is warm, insightful, compassionate and
practical. It is manageable and so considerate to those involved in devoted
caring. It contains short (about 110 words each) and to-the-point daily
reflections (365 of them!) and tips from one who obviously knows from the
inside what she is talking about. Each page offers welcome and
unpredictably appropriate, yet simple and easily accessible, encouragement and
wisdom. The index is extremely useful; 14 blank pages have been
generously provided for the beginnings of a personal journal; the book is
conveniently small (6 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 1"), and is easily
transportable. When you need a wise and caring companion, Coping With
Caring will help; get it! When you want to help a friend "cope
with caring"; give it away (and get another.) Thank you, Lyn and
(editor) Bill!

The New Revised Edition of Coping With Caring is like a
good friend with a makeover. It's more flexible for easy turning of the
pages, has clearer type, meaningful revisions, and pages on which to make notes
and comments. And, like a friend, this book is one you can take with you
when you need support to get you through the tough times. It's the right
size to tuck into a purse or tote, and the format makes it easy to pick up and
read anywhere - any time.

I love the cover of the new revised edition of Coping With
Caring and I'm so glad it's here - just in time, I might add. My
niece's grandfather-in-law has just been diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I'm
ordering one for her. See, once again, you're an answer to prayer!

father, Pultneyville, NY
I cared for my husband at home for nine years. He resides in
a care facility now. I rely on both Coping With Caring and Sharing
The Care. Their daily readings help inspire me personally
and when problems come up, the index in both books direct me to practical
solutions. Recently, while visiting my husband, I observed a member of
the staff handling a situation with him in a manner that greatly
disturbed and upset me. I remembered Lyn and
Bill's advice. I calmed down and made an appointment with the
director of the facility. I calmly related the incident, voiced my
concerns, and asked how we might all work together to provide the most
considerate care of my husband.

I have had the pleasure of working with many amazing caregivers for
the past 10 years. They give of themselves all day every day. Sometimes the smallest of things helps them make
it through some very difficult times. The book, Coping with Caring
offers that little extra support to our families on a daily basis. I will be giving each of our caregivers from
the day care and the caregivers in our support group a copy of the book before
the New Year.
